The most versatile honeycomb shade made is the Duette Duolite. Actually, it's two shades combined into one! Get a 3/4" sheer fabric mounted above a 3/4" room-darkening opaque fabric. Hunter Douglas' fine sheer fabric lets light in, and you can see through it during the day…yet it's difficult for those outside to see inside your home. Or use the room-darkening fabric (the top of it is mounted to the bottom of the top sheer fabric), which is not only quite effective at blocking light and giving you absolute privacy, but also at insulating.
Now here's how you get the best of both worlds - raise the bottom opaque shade half-way up your window, leaving the sheer fabric to cover the top half. That way you get privacy and still be able to see out through the truly sheer honeycomb fabric.
The opaque fabrics are backed by white for a uniform appearance on your home's exterior. An occasional vacuuming is all that's needed to keep your shades looking fresh.
